Abstract
Today, one of the most critical and pressing issues faced by companies, industrial workshops, large manufacturing plants, and, more broadly, construction and industrial organizations worldwide is the technical preservation of physical assets. This is because a significant portion of productivity improvement and performance enhancement in industries—aimed at creating competitive advantages and reducing production costs—depends on the effective utilization and maintenance of machinery and human resources. Therefore, according to many experts, one of the most modern managerial techniques applied in this field is the philosophy of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
This paper seeks to investigate the importance and role of TPM implementation in reducing emergency maintenance activities at Azin Ghaleb Mashhad Company. To achieve this objective, all maintenance operations, including preventive and emergency maintenance activities carried out on the company’s equipment over a ten-month period, were examined within the framework of TPM implementation. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software. The results indicate that an increase in preventive maintenance activities significantly reduces both the duration of emergency repairs and equipment downtime. These findings highlight the importance of TPM implementation, which ultimately leads to reduced production costs, increased organizational profitability, and improved overall equipment effectiveness.
