Abstract
This study aimed to examine and evaluate Andimeshk as an alternative logistics center and its potential role in reducing pressure on the southern ports of Khuzestan. The research is qualitative and exploratory in nature, and data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The statistical population consisted of managers and experts from the General Directorate of Roads and Transportation of Khuzestan Province, particularly the Andimeshk region. A snowball sampling method was used, and semi-structured interviews were conducted with nine experts until theoretical saturation was reached. In-depth analysis and systematic coding of qualitative data led to the extraction of five main themes. The findings indicate that although Andimeshk has strong potential in terms of geographical location and access to basic infrastructure, realizing its logistical role requires overcoming structural challenges such as road deterioration, weak warehousing services, environmental vulnerability to floods, and psychological-legal barriers faced by economic actors. The extracted themes were categorized into five main dimensions: infrastructural potentials, operational challenges, competitive comparison with ports, environmental-security risks, and policy solutions. The results show that transforming Andimeshk into an effective logistics hub depends on targeted investment in rail network development, construction of transit bypass roads, digitalization of logistics processes, and providing legal incentives to the private sector.
